Hello all, I'm a noob girl in the lair, from the (sunny- not!) Midlands, just looking about here for inspiration and maybe to improve the maps, and possibly resolution on my SE game. sunny

you came to right place . and welcome before all ...

I am willing to help , you just have to ask the question Wink

Improve the maps - get links for new ones ?
Improve resolution - how to get higher resolution without FPS going down too much ?

be more specific ...

enjoy ...

Well, I meant any improvements to the maps and or the look of buildings, environment etc.,

No, it was a reference similar to the above. I understand there are much cleverer people than I will ever be, making all sorts for all games. Obviously running through Steam I expect they have limitations on what can be changed, without them getting the hump? Not sure there? I have a fairly decent PC with an NVid GTX 260 card so it runs on max', with no problems, it's just that the game is a little old now, and could have better graphics.

Yes, I'm hoping Steam won't object to any changes I make, and their cheat detection software doesn't penalise me if I make changes?

I don't know much about playing online with others, as the Steam servers all seem to be set for more modern games? I assume there's a way I can do it independantly from Steam?

Anyway, I'm finding some interesting stuff here to amuse me, so far, so thanks.

no problemos afro

I also heard STEAM makes problems generally . so it is best to get a "normal" copy . that way your customization will be more standardised and easier . and I don't know much of steam , but see if you can make some helping account , just for the purpose to see if you are gonna be "caught cheating" , so your main account doesn't suffer Wink

I would have to buy it again if I make another account. I know it's only £8 on there, but I have a feeling altering the maps is ok, as I did do it once some time ago, and it was ok.

Then I lost my OS, and had to reinstall, but Steam didn't complain. I think I have a torrented copy of SE somewhere, so I can try that. Wink

yes , that won't rebbel as much as the STEAM .... altering maps is ok yeah ... as long as it is done in good spirit ... but you will bump on those hard - core ones that say any mod on SE is cheating so don't bother much with them Wink

Yes, I've seen some of the little boys fighting on comment sites about the lamest things, etc., and it makes me giggle.

Games are about large ego's, and we need to remember it's a mouse and keyboard (usually) not an M16 machine gun, we're all using really. Wink

I imagine online if someone bounces around like a Mexican bean, it would be hard to hit them? But that sort of spoils the conjecture of sniping to me.

(unless you really do have a rifle in your wardrobe, like some of us) Shocked

hah , mexican beans , good one . there is no jump in sniper elite , but that's why there are lags and "dancing" ( moving left right fast to avoid bullets , matrix Very Happy )

I don't have rifle in my house , but I do like weaponry Very Happy

"Games are about large ego's, and we need to remember it's a mouse and keyboard" haha , good one , we call them "keyboard commandos" ... too much talk , so little sniping ...

nice conversation , as far as quality maps I think some of the new ones or ok and bull can sort you out with those, how good those maps are to play on, well I dont care for them much at all, they look ok, but a lot of the new maps just aren't fun to play on. SE is an old game now and well behind in the graphics world, but it is a classic a one of a kind which is to bad.

As far as playing SE on steam I would simply download SE from a torrent site and be done with steam, steam has also be come nothing more then a pain in the ace for COD MW2 constantly down. we pay good money to play why cant we play when we want right, lol

Oh and make sure on your video settings in SE are set with motion blur "OFF" as well as bloom filter. that should really help your death kill ratio.

new maps are ok , and existing classic 8 ones are ok when modified as well , all good until they are done with a purpose of gaining an extra edge over the opponent , just like infamous desert fuel dump , a most greatest epic fail in SE moding of all times ...

as for teh STEAM goes , yeah , it should be dumped into trash because further you go the worse it gets ... SE has quite some additional programs which as you progress in game and get familiar with it has on side so , better to start in most easy and checked way .

Ah well, new maps suck in the terms of fun. They are not as good to play on good ol' 8 maps. Desert fuel dump, FYI isnt the greatest epic fail Razz. Because that was the stepping stone to new maps, you can't get all good, without a fail. Lol @ dumping steam into trash Razz, you love dumping? or trashes? Anyway, its better to play with normal copy(pirated copy-For Educational Purposes only! lol).

And finally on topic, welcome to the IDS forums lol.

Thanks for the welcome boys, and I've loaded a borrowed copy of SE, - all I need now is the time to be able to shoot! I've not yet ever played multi-player but I see how it operates by the You Tube videos I've watched, and I had a poke around the other night to see all this setting up of private rooms, etc.

I also, loaded the demo for that new Sniper Ghost Warrior, but although it has better graphics, it's not going to be as good as SE, in my opinion.
